✔️ Platform as a Service
✔️ Software as a Service
Services Provided By AWS |
What is Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS)?
~ IAAS is a service which provides Infrastructure to build any website or application to run smoothly without any physical servers in on-premises.
~ As an end user you don't need to manage the servers or computer physically, it is managed by AWS on behalf of you.
~ Example: You want a supercomputer for your final year project, but you are in college hostel, and you don't have space to keep this supercomputer and maintain all the time. Hence you have created an AWS account and spined up a supercomputer using AWS EC2 Service, and you are done. Whenever you need to access the supercomputer, you can start and use it and shutdown it and physically it is not present with you but within AWS data center. Hence you goal of developing final project is done without you managing any of the infrastructure components.
What is Platform as a Service (PAAS)?
~ PAAS is a service which provides Platform to run the code/application.
~ As an end user you don't need to manage installation of software's and updates and tools to run your applications or project, it is managed by AWS on behalf you.
~ Example: You can host your website (simple html/css) code in AWS PAAS service and go for a round trip around the world and comeback and see your website will be still running, running and running. Also assume somehow your website went viral and lots of user started to use it, from 100 users to 100,000 users a day started to view your website. Behind the scenes all the load balancing, auto-scaling adjustments based on the traffic everything is done by AWS on behalf of you. Cool isn't?
What is Software as a Service (SAAS)?
~ SAAS is a service which gives you a software directly to consume and just use it directly.
~ You don't need to be technical person to avail this service, just if you know how to use and you have use case. Just you can plug and use it, simple as that.
~ Example: You have seen many video platforms, there you are just uploading videos or viewing videos without worrying about how that application runs and who manages their server right? Also, you have drop box or one drive or google drive to upload your files and pictures without worrying about how this application maintained or managed right? Just you are consuming on the fly without worrying about anything technically. Am I right, again? If you agree these points, then that is best example for SAAS I can say.
