Did you know about Amazon SageMaker Studio❓
🤔 Like you, I initially believed that this service was only for data-related tasks and that regular engineers/developers weren't supposed to use it.
✒️ However, after using it for a while, I would suggest that it can help you with more than just data related tasks. In fact, an organization can use SageMaker Studio to bring their entire SDLC 💪.
😬 Because of its data'ish ness like gimick we (normal non-data developers) always felt, "Oh, SageMaker, it's expensive 😱 so no, no don't go that side 🤐."
😷 As a result, we shrank and missed the hidden gem 💎 and its possibilities, as well as the opportunity to utilize such a fantastic and powerful tool 🔥.
✒️ Let me give you some glimpse with a preview of what SageMaker Studio is capable of.
✒️ SageMaker is big service, but in this post am limiting my context towards SageMaker Studio only.
✒️ And mostly, this write-up is for developers who enjoy writing code and creating projects using CLI based or code language tools.
😀 So, What is SageMaker Studio?
A tool which provides multi speciality purpose under the single console, to perform all machine learning (ML) development steps, from preparing data to building, training, deploying, and managing your ML models.(This talk only data stuffs right? 😉)
Wait, Read furthermore down the line ✍️
🏌️It is fully managed integrated development environments (IDEs) for machine learning (ML) development, including JupyterLab, Code Editor based on Code-OSS (Visual Studio Code – Open Source), and RStudio. (This is where it makes every developer choice 😀 even for non data developer)
🏌️With option of Visual Studio Code - Open Source, now almost everything is possible 💪.
🏌️Building simple node.js application to writing complex cloudformation template can be done under the same window.
🏌️It's not stopped there, just by writing the code and testing in the IDE. The beauty is, it let you deploy to the AWS environment quickly and directly 🤩.
🏌️Additionally you can store your code or infrastructure artifacts to GitHub location✌️.
🏌️You can use SageMaker Studio from any device using a web browser👨💻 without logging in to AWS console.
🏌️Both code and data are kept within your secure cloud environment with no need to download sensitive data to your local machine🔐.
🏌️Coming to💲pricing, using Visual Studio Code - Open Source is much, much, much cheaper than giving your developer team with WorkSpace or EC2 machine to work.
🎁 Additional perks you can get using SageMaker Studio, if your developement team is big, you are gonna enjoy the Collaboration Space option available in SageMaker Studio, which you might not get while using EC2 or WorkSpace kind of setup.
📌 Note: We can't deny that SageMaker is for more of data'ish use cases, but if it can provide benefits in your other use cases, why not to give a try 😀.
I hope you learned something new 🎉.
Take Care, Bye 👋.
